to start Asian Trilateral Highway construction to catalyze Act East Policy:

Union Minister of
State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industries Nirmala Sitharaman has
said today at Imphal that the construction work of Asian Trilateral Highway will
be started shortly to catalyze the Act East policy.
Speaking at the one-day lecture on New India Manthan- Sankalp Se Siddhi at Impha,
she said, Manipur will be the gateway for the entire South-East Asia. She also
said, Manipur will have a lot more to benefit from the country’s Act East
Policy. The Minister further said, her ministry has launched Trade
Infrastructure for Export Scheme(TIES) for exporting industrial goods outside
the country and a sum of nine crore
rupees will given for infrastructure development at Imphal Airport under this
scheme.
Mentioning
the significant achievements of Narendra Modi Government at the Centre, she,
316 central sponsored schemes are being implemented through Direct Benefit
Transfer (DBT). She also said, 29.4 crore people have opened their bank
accounts through Jan Dhan Yojana. She further said, so far 17 million LPG
connections have been provided under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna and 20
million toilets have been constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, his government is taking the great
challenge of bringing development in the state. He said, the state should try
to take maximum benefit from the Act East Policy and recently one committee has
been formed to materialize it.

Minister and State Government Spokesperson Thongam Biswajit Singh, BJP, Manipur
