Keishing passed away
Former Chief Minister of Manipur and former
MP of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Rishang Keising passed away yesterday night at the
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, Imphal at the age of 96. He
was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Manipur for four times since 1980. He was
elected as Lok Sabha MP from the outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in
1952.
State Chief Minister N. Biren Singh condoled on the sudden
demise of Rishang Keishing. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said,
Rishang Keishing’s contribution towards Manipur’s progress will always be
remembered. He said, Mr. Rishang Keishing was a people’s man and a pragmatic
leader. State Government Spokesperson and Works Minister Thongam Biswajit also
condoled on the demise of Mr. Keishing.
As a mark of respect to
the departed leader, Manipur Government has declared to observe three-day State mourning and the state
government offices and educational institutions will remain closed today.
